Open Book Club x The Offset Karaoke Night

“I’m hosting a karaoke night with The Offset and featuring What Am I, A Deer? by Polly Barton. One of their recent picks! The Offset is Book of the Month’s new collection focused on indie and international voices, for readers who seek artistic expression over commercial appeal, elevated prose over action-packed plots, or the unconventional over the mainstream. What Am I, A Deer? recalls Vincenzo Latronico’s Perfection, crossed with the emotionally microscopic sensibility of Sally Rooney At the center of the book is karaoke: the ritual the narrator practices alone in a soundproofed box -- belting out power ballads and reverting to her prelapsarian Céline Dion self -- gives voice to feelings the narrator struggles to articulate. So naturally, we're having a karaoke night. We’ll start the night with a light discussion, a shorter version of our usual meetings. (It’s ok if you haven’t finished the book before this!) Then we’ll dim the lights, turn up the music, and sing. PLEASE NOTE: To receive your free book promo code, your email address will be shared with Book of the Month and Open Book Club. Your intro offer includes a one-month credit commitment, and you can cancel online anytime after that.”
